Pheme for clarinet Bb and tape
Pheme for clarinet and fixed media got its inspiration from an ancient Greek goddess called Pheme, whose vice was gossiping. Pheme used to repeat what she had heard - at first quietly whispering and then strengthening it little by little until everyone had heard it. The main idea in this piece was to examine how to gossip with clarinet. At the beginning clarinet and tape rustle together in unisono until whispering starts to become cracked and the gossip gets on the loose, occasionally with virtuosic spatters. The piece is dedicated to Harri Mäki. The voice on the tape belongs to Meeri Pulakka.
