Harmaapäätikka/Grey-headed woodpecker
photo: Minna Leinonen
Grey-headed woodpecker is an imaginary play of two woodpeckers drumming and calling each other with melancholic series of descending melodies and sharp noises, then meeting and flying away. The original Grey-headed woodpecker (2012) for flute and clarinet was commissioned by the Crusell Festival 2012 and is dedicated to Harri Mäki. The second version (2018) is arranged for violin and cello and dedicated to Eriikka Maalismaa and Markus Hohti of the Tristero Piano Trio.
F.P. Harri Mäki (cl) and Siiri Niittymaa (fl), July 2012.
